Gas Mileage

Featured Replies

Those of you who own '98 OBW, post your gas mileage...I would like to get a good idea of where my '98 OBW stands.

Thanks for participating.

1997 OBW.

25+ avg mixed highway/secondary roads in Summer, 24+ in Winter.

Best tank ever - 28.3, the other 97 OBW we had hit 29.0 once.

Worst tank, all city driving in Winter, 20 mpg.

I'm uninvited.... with my '98 2.5RS... but

average with mostly freeway... 25ish

average on the mazda zoom zoom type road... 23ish

best ever... 28.1

Something I've noticed.. gas mileage sucks at over 70 freeway speeds... it's like these cars were built to get great mileage between 50 and 60mph... that's how I got the 28 tank. Took a trip through Yosemite, beautiful drive, spent most of my time between 40 and 50 and probably would have pulled 30mpg if it weren't for the 80ish getting to Yosemite and coming back.

it's like these cars were built to get great mileage between 50 and 60mph...

I hear ya!

When I'm driving down the freeway the damn thing is revving at like 4k the gearing is so damn low!

Oh and I have a 97 Legacy GT (2.5MT), that gets about 23avg, up to 27, not that impressive.

differnet engine...but

1996 OBW 2.2l

Average is about 24.4

Worst was around 18 (my MAF was messed up)

Best ever was all highway at around 55MPH - 30.5

Very cool for posting guys, thanks.

My best so far (my first time being diligent at tracking gas mileage) has been 27.2 with mostly highway driving. This is with new spark plugs, fuel filter, and tires with alignment. So, not bad huh?
