oil leak origins?

Featured Replies

hey guys (purely gender neutral term), i have a 90 loyale wagon 4wd with 216,000 miles and it is the greatest car i have ever owned. the problem is that i have an oil leak. first, i am by no means mechanically enclined so i took the soob to a local mech. (they do work for the vehicles at the camp i work at). they said i had several leaks and replaced the valve cover gasket, crank seal, oil pan gasket and changed the timing belt. this cost me $500.00 and i still have an oil leak. it is not a large leak it is just annoying because it leaks down to my manifold cover and then smokes a great deal as it burns off. any other likely places the oil could be coming from? thanks for your help.

could be a rear main or oil pump seal , are you sure it is oil, also could be tranny fluid ,there is a seal there ,

It sound like cam case o-rings. There is one thing you need to remember. You have an EA82 engine and they were prone to leaking on the assembly line.
