August 23, 200421 yr i've pulled a few newer model Foresters into the garage lately and i've noticed that the engine starts and shuts off pretty violently. has anyone else noticed this or fixed it in their own? Also, does this happen in all newer models (99-05)?
August 23, 200421 yr what do you mean violently? the shaking and shimmering caused by start up/shut off? if so.. normal as can be. Jamie
August 23, 200421 yr Author what do you mean violently? the shaking and shimmering caused by start up/shut off? if so.. normal as can be. Jamie yeah, if i remember correctly, mostly on the shut-off. as the engine winds down the whole car shakes
August 23, 200421 yr sounds about right to me. even with stiffer motor mounts... engine shakes pretty violently side to side done this on all my Subaru's except the 360
August 23, 200421 yr Author my 96 Leg LS is smooth on start and shut-off......just not a stoplights.....damn rogue misfire of sorts
August 23, 200421 yr Mine does nothing.. just turns off. Sometimes when it hasn't been running in a long time you can feel it turn over but I wouldn't call it violent. I dunno if it makes a difference if it is a stick or automatic. The 5 spd is pretty smooth... Heck, I would say that my 93 Legacy auto. was more "violent" than the forester is...
August 23, 200421 yr Nope. No more than any other car I/we have owned Sube or non-Sube. Quite smooth actually. -Louis- '04 Forester XT 5spd '91 Loyale 4wd 5spd Wagon

August 24, 200421 yr Anything in the Impreza line (all year Foresters included) are made in Japan. Anything in the Legacy line (Outbacks and Baja's too) are made at SIA..
