September 24, 200421 yr Subaru Mini Jumbo M80 1991 Is It Necessary To Remove Engine For Clutch Replacement?
September 24, 200421 yr If you have an engine hoist, it's generally easier to remove/re-install the engine when doing a clutch job. There's less work involved in removing the transmission, but it's more difficult to re-install the transmission after the clutch work than re-installing an engine. Subaru Mini Jumbo M80 1991 Is It Necessary To Remove Engine For Clutch Replacement?
September 24, 200421 yr i think the subaru motor is the easiest motor in the world, to remove, and install. it weighs about 200 lbs, and faces forward, so with the radiator out, theres tons of room. i say do the engine pull. but... my cousin did do it in about 6 hours by pulling the tranny back only about 8 inches, and leaving the cvs installed. lining up the clutch with the alighment tool was tough tho, and he had to spin the flywheel to move each bolt to the bottom of the wheel, one by one. i like pullin motors =]
September 26, 200421 yr Uh, guys... You seem to have totally ignored what type of Subaru he has. This isn't his, but probably similar... http://www.digipix.org/mini-jumbo Looks like maybe it's a Justy motor? It's small, inline, and transverse anyways.
