Check Engine Light reset?

Featured Replies

my 97 legacy brighton has a faulty oxygen sensor that results in the CE light coming on without cause. Is there an easy way to reset this without paying the high fee for the diagnostic test at the shop (or replacing the sensor)?

thanks -

I am not sure I understand? "has a faulty oxygen sensor that results in the CE light coming on without cause. "

The cause it the oxygen senor is faulty, which turns on the CEL.

Am I missing something here? Did you already replace the bad 02 sensor?

It comes on for long periods and goes off for even longer. I am hoping to find a way to reset the light periodically, as I know that it is not something I need to be concerned about. Have not replaced sensor - i was told that it was unimportant.

The MIL should eventually go out once the fault absent for long enough.

Someone told you the O2 sensor is not important?

Sure if you don't mind bad mpg, car running poorly, no power, etc.

Battery Dance it. Disconnect the (-) battery terminal. Let it sit for an hour or more. Reconnect and start without touching anything (leave the key in the switch and the window down so you don't turn on the dome light). Let it idle for 10 mins or so.

Reset your radio presets and clock.
