Backfires when I turn it off.

Recommended Posts

Ok...my 3rd post today...

My car is running pretty rough when I started it. It also stalled a few times letting it idle. I drove it around for a while just to see if after it warmed up anything would change. When I got home I let it idle and it seemed better but when I turned it off it backfired pretty loudly.

I need this car!

Please refer to my other post too.... http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=23268

i need help!

Thanks, Matt

IF you are talking about an exhaust explosion rather than a back fire through the carb then the cause might be the anti-dieseling solenoid on the carb.... drivers side on the front corner. might check to see if you hear a click in it when the key is turned on. If not check the wire for voltage and then pull it and clean it. Might even be beter to clean the whole carb and put a kit in it.

Yeah,

It is an exhaust explosion. Actually there is a ticking noise..sounds like there is a clock behind the steering wheel ticking away at least when I am sitting in the car. Is that what you are talking about?

Thanks, Matt
