powderhound
Yesterday while parallel parking on a downhill I thought my hillholder held the car...couldn't be. So to day at a stop light with the car pointing downhill I tried it and sure enough it held the car. I thought the hillholder was only supposed to keep the car from rolling backwards. Any ideas why mine is working on downhills?

who1981
there is a ball that rolls forward and back on hills. this should prevent the HH from holding on a level or down-slope (and from causing your breaks to lock on when stopping with the clutch in) http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8080/subaru_manual_scans/FSM_Scans/hillholder.jpg Perhaps it's getting stuck, or is cloged.? (break flush/bleed?) I disable my HH at the fist heavy frost in the winter... Hill holder is not your friend in the snow, if you need to say... Slowly back down a snow-covered drive. It can send you spinnin'/ Good for summer though..
