I recently purchased a 1995 legacy ls awd wagon. It needed a little work, like replacing rear struts,starter and battery. Now i have a problem i don't know how to fix, when i turn the car on the check engine light flashes constantly but does'nt seem to effect anything other than ever once in awhile the idle will drop down below 500 rpm's but will still keep running. So i was wondering if anybody had ever had that problem and what would need to be done to correct it.

The check engine light could be anything. Maybe an O2 sensor needs replacing. You need to get the computer codes read to find out what your difficulty is. From what you describe, it doesn't sound too serious or expensive. Places like Pep Boys, etc. will read the codes for you for free, to give you an idea of what your up against. Barring that, a trip to a Subaru dealer can tell you the same thing but it won't be a freebe I'm betting. Good luck!
