pollyavis
Hi all- I am new to this forum and am signing up for myself, husband and daughter. The current dilemma is my daughter's 2004 Outback- we are trying to change the fuel filter, and don't know where it is located..we really feel like true dummies, but have looked and cannot find it. (Any help humbly appreciated.) Also...we have just purchased 2005 Baja and are looking to hook up a trailor and need imput on the wiring harness, where to find, reasonable pricing, if we can make our own. Thanks ever so much, and we think your forum is great!!
mrk610
The fuel filter is in the engine compartment on the drivers side fender next to the washer tank. That is were it is on my 02 outback. Mike
kevinsUBARU
If you go buy one, you can see what it looks like, then it's just a matter of out with the old and in with the new
Setright
Make sure you relieve the fuel system pressure before you start on this. Either leave the car standing for 24 hours, or pull the fuel pump fuse and run the engine until it stalls. Failure to do this will see gasoline spraying from the hoses! Cougar
Welcome to the forum Pollyavis, hope you like it here as there are a lot of good helpful folks posting on the site. I have to wonder why you are changing the fuel filter on such a new vehicle. Did some bad gas get put in the tank? As with any new vehicle it takes some time to get familiar with it. You may want to think about getting a factory service manual if you are the types that like to do it yourself. You have a good while left on your warranty though so you don't need to get something right away. I like to get them myself to answer any questions I have about the car and it helps to see how things are designed. I think you can purchase a set of connectors and build your own harness. If the trailor is already wired you will have to match the connector on it. I would check out a shop that specializes in trailor hitches and see what they have to match your vehicle. Since this is a new vehicle you may want to ask the dealership if there any warranty issues to think about before doing this. Enjoy the new Soobs.
