I took Turbone's advice and got the car running after the dist. was removed, but it seemed to be running rough. So I got a mechanic to take a look and get it running smooth, and it seems to be. BUT, the cable's from the dizzy to the plugs are now on opposite sides. Has he aboutfaced the whole dizzy, is this a problem ? I don't like this !

Do I take it back?

Sounds a little odd! The distributor may be 360 degrees out. Only way i can think of that the engine would run with the disty cap rotated by 180 degrres like you describe..
