Travelling in a snow storm it seemed like suddenly there was little power going to the drive. 93 Legacy manual transmission. Shifted down from 5th to 4th gear and it seems to have grabbed, shift back to 5th and it seemed to go for a while and then the same thing happened again. It wasn't apparent uinder dry conditions. Pardon the lack of clarity but I wasn't in the car when it happened.

There is a little tweeting probably from the throwout bearing that you can hear at idle and disappears if you just slightly engage the clutch.

I'm hoping for a "Tweet No More" additive to pour on the hood of the car and that it may also solve the mystery in the drive.

Any other suggestions appreciated.

You've checked the obvious...fluids, water in the fuel line, etc? My philosophy is eliminate the cheap and easy stuff then work up to the throwout bearing. I had a 92 Saturn that would have similar behavior, but it was only from mid January through March so I learned to anticipate it and just lived with it. Couldn't duplicate it in warm dry weather. Best diagnosis I ever got was, "Hmm. Sounds like a worn clutch." I have no answers for you though. Hope it's not serious.

Sounds like clutch slipping. I had this happen on one of my subarus. Had to drive home in 3rd grear 5,000 rpm, only going 30 mph.

classic symptoms.
