November 27, 200421 yr Ok I have tried a few different spots but so far but have avoided hacking into the wastegate. Had a great place before one of the vacuum solenoids but it keeps causing me to snap the solenoid end off ..So I moved it, But can't seem to get a really accurate (too low) or steady(Bouncing) reading. So where have you guys tee'd into?
November 27, 200421 yr Author I did that, was really bouncy..maybe it's the el cheapo gauge but didn't do it when I had it installed in line with the throttle body. Worked good there just caused me to snap the solenoid anytime I removed the intake plenum.
November 27, 200421 yr Boost guage needs to be directly linked to the manifold presure. Otherwise you wont have a proper reading. THe lines on the TB are not really manifold presure...ive done this and it gave me strange readings.
November 27, 200421 yr I agree straight to the manafold, I tee'd mine in where the automatic transmission tap is. I don't have an auto so there was a free vaccum port. Mine has never been boucey at all. I have an autometer gauge. They seem a little lethargic to me.
November 27, 200421 yr if you look on the intake manifold there will be a couple "dummy" threaded holes that have a block off bolt wiht a square head on it....unscre it and screw in you fitting there.. i too have an autometer, and it's not bouncy
November 27, 200421 yr Author I figured it out, turns out my guage is smarter than the installer. And yes I went straight into one of the block offs this time (used the old the brake booster stem from old intake).
