juniorbill
My power steering pump sounds like it's going - bearing is squealing. I have a 93 Legacy non-turbo automatic. My local auto parts places can't find a rebuilt. Does anyone know if a pump from a 95 Legacy wagon manual would work OK? Thanks for your thoughts. coloradosubarules
I just ran the numbers and I regret to inform you that they will not interchange. Sorry. Maybe you should try another parts store or www.subaruparts.com
juniorbill
Thanks for checking - I didn't know how or where to check. The neighborhood guy parts guy called all the local distributors to no avail. ... What about one from a 92? There was one on ebay a couple of weeks ago (before mine started sqealing) that didn't sell; maybe if I'm lucky it's still available. I just ran the numbers and I regret to inform you that they will not interchange. Sorry. vrg3
Are you pretty sure about that, coloradosubarules? I remember going to a u-pull-it and using their interchange lookup for a 91 Legacy power steering pump and being told I could go up to 1996. jcniest5
JuniorBill, I have a used one and I'm almost certain it's interchangeable (I could be wrong, though). If you need it, let me know. I can send it to you with no charge if you pay the shipping, that's all. It's actually my old one cuz awhile back I thought mine went bad cuz it was leaking. I thought it was the pump, bought a used one to replace it, still was leaking, so I replaced the O-ring on the new/used one and leaking stopped. So, I have my old one laying around which I rather give it to someone who can use it. The pump is still good, although you may need to replace the old and worn out O-ring. Just take the O-ring to an auto parts store and ask them to compare it to one of theirs until you can find one with the same size. It's very easy to replace and it only costed me $.87 plus tax. Pretty cheap fix!
juniorbill
Such a deal! Look for an e-mail from me. What a great board. I don't have time to come here often, but when I do I always come across the greatest folks. Must be a Subaru thing. coloradosubarules
I went to autozones website and put in the same info with different years and the part numbers were different. That tells me that it is not the same part. Buy it and try it.... If if does not fit..I told ya so. Best wishes.
