I have an 85 gl hatchback 4wd and had an elecrtical problem. I ran some tests and it was the alternator. I went out and bought a new one and bought a voltage regulator because I haven't worked on these before. I couldn't find the regulator and in a search I found that some of these cars have an internal regulator. Would someone help me out. I want to know if I should return the regulator.

You car has an internal regulator

 

81-82 (possibly 83)was the last year for external regulators.
