Turbo q

Featured Replies

If the turbo locked up on my rx, would it run?

I got in my car and took off, and noticed power was down. No boost on boost gauge. I thought the wastegate was stuck open, but no whirring sound from turbo. Car was shut off and restarted later, and it was working normally. It sounded a little different, a slight change in pitch.

Thoughts?

i've driven a 300z that had a siezed turbo, it ran, but its a big restriction on the exhaust, and intake sede. that turbo freed up eventualy, and kept onworking after that.

i suspected carbon build up from hot shut down.

Yes it would run but not well, the change in pitch was from your turbo? If so that's not good, might be worth pullling the DP and checking the shaft end play, I've had some where the turbine had actually etched the housing and that would explain the shoddy performance you had/have.

Caleb has 2 turbo's for sale at 40 bucks each, pretty good deal IMHO.

The turbo only has 200k+ on it.

It's still good:brow:

I guess I ought to slap a newer turbo on there when I put the twe header and downpipe on (when they get here).

I've got another turbo in stock.
