rayban1
Hey, I have a 1986 brat , that came with jump seats installed by the previous owner. They are connected by u-bolts that he installed. Looks like he drilled the holes where the u bolts go. Was wondering how they were installed by the factory and if I should have them welded in . Also have some head rest , that I want to install but, there is no brackets on the 1986 BRAT for the headrest, any ideas how to make brackets. Also what are the two silver arms that mount behind the rear windshield for, thought they were for the head rest , but they do not line up. thanks Ray in Seattle....... Jibs
Yes, the seats were factory welded in. It's easier for you to take in and out if you bolt them in, but if you don't plan on taking them in or out, you may certainly weld them. On factory brats, the seats are welded in by 2 upside down u pieces of metal. I'm sure you could find a decent pic while looking through the photo galler for an example. There SHOULD be 2 headrest pillars behind the cab that you mount the headrests to, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't line up. Previous owner? anyway, thats what I can think of now. chef_tim
Bars behind the back window = window protectors IIRC. Tim

I live in North Bend and have the exact same questions....I need pictures of how people have done it.....seems that they stopped installing them after the 85 model, so this is why things do not line up. I have the belts, but am now thinking I should buy some shoulder style and just mount to the back wall of the bed and tak weld in the seats via the mounting bracket it sits on. If the belts are secure, that the person won't go flying out even if the seats gave way. let me know if you come up with something and I will do the same. thanx, bob
