Help! Ignition switch trouble

Featured Replies

Ok, so I'm a moron.

I managed to stick the ignition key of my '84 GL Wagon into the switch of my '88 GL hatch. I turned it to start the car and it wouldn't, when I realized my mistake I tried to turn the ignition off and put the right key in, but the switch wouldn't budge, nor would the key come out. After twisting, and yanking I finally got my key out, but I couldn't get the right key in. Now the car is parked the wrong way in front of my house with the ignition in the on position, I had to disconnect the battery and leave it. Does anyone know any tricks so I can get my key in there agian? I really need to move it before I get a ticket, and I really can't afford a locksmith, but if it's the only option.....

Thanks

FWIW, I did the same thing once to a Ford truck. I fixed it by taking a flashlight and looking into the key hole. When I pulled the wrong key out I managed to turn the face of the lock without turning the tumblers with it. Figured out where the tumblers where in relation to the face, turned the face to line it all back up and managed to get the key in.

Call me about the bumpers tonight.

I'll have a look at it, but I don't think I turned anything.

Will do on the call.
