Thank you all for your information that has been posted on this site. Your guys knowlege has helped me with my subie allot. I have been a big Toyota fan my whole life and know Toyotas inside and out. But the subaru is a whole new world to me. I have a 87 gl wagon I have added a dynomax turbo exhaust, accell coil, chrome lugnuts and lots of dents. The abality of this auto is amasing. We go wheeling twice a week and I am still blown away where these things can go. Sorry Toyota you just don't have a car like this. Also I like insulting people with big 4x, with my staiton wagon, as probably all of you do as well. But with this car I have confusing problems so I need a little help. I have a backfire problem. Its not some pop when I let off the gas, it sounds like a cannon, and it blew my new dynomax muffler apart. On other postings that I read, I was told to block the hoses that come off of the backfire valve to the air filter. And that works but I want to know what is wrong. Any help??? One more question, when I crack open one of the windows my car fills up with exhaust??? I have checked numerous times for exhaust leaks, I have sealed the back latch shut to see if it was a falty door seal, re glued the tail lights, checked all drain plugs, I have even preasure tested the car with smoke (I have a smoke machine) , used posion gas sensor and still found no where where exhaust would be coming into the car.... I have no idea..... If someone can help let me know....

it comes in all around, that thing wont float , so its not air tight =]

i had a nasty backfire, an exh leak anywhere can make it happen. mine was one right behind the first cat, and it would sound like a cannon when it went off.

blocking the air suction valves is a good idea.

the other thing that can cause them is a loose timing belt.

the dent problem might be fixed by not running into anymore trees.:banghead: can you tell me where i could get some of those custom chrome lug nuts?
