January 19, 200521 yr Ok, so i know your supposed to use a vaccum pump of some kind but...i'm too cheap for that kind of thing. Anyway, I had the hose off the other day, tried sucking on it, and it seemed there was a hole or something. My question: Does this mean what i think it does (that its stuffed), or is there some difference between a advance diaphragm for a turbo and the na models? Cheers.
January 19, 200521 yr Yeh if your advance diaphram cant hold a vacuum its stuffed. They can be rebuilt tho. Turbos use a crank angle sensor which uses the ecu to work out the avance so yes there is a difference between them, its not there

Only late model ea82ts have crank angle sensors. The rest (all ea81s and ea82s up to 87ish) have vacuum advance/boost retard.
