January 22, 200521 yr Has anyone on the group found a good replacement for the SOA crush washers? I replace them everytime i chnage the oil or ATF but I don't like throwing anything more than I have to away and they ar $1.25 EACH from the local stealership!!! I found a aftermarket drain plug that came with the right size rubber gasket???
January 22, 200521 yr I've been reusing a copper drain plug gasket. No problems to date. I wouldn't use rubber or plastic. Heck, for what you're paying you could pay for one of those slick Fujimoto drain valves in no time.

January 22, 200521 yr Can you get thouse Fujimoto drain valves in the right size for Roos??? Yes, you can get a FUMUTO drain valve for Subarus. Iv'e had one in my Forester for the last five years. They are worth every penny. I highly recommend them .
January 22, 200521 yr $0.55 at my dealership. I change them when I have one or its convenient. I have never had leaks though, even with repeated reuse. -Heikki

(...snip) Own two Subarus (94 Legacy, 99 Forester) and except for when I took them in for timing belt changes, have always done the oil myself. Have always just reused the old washers. No problems. No oil leaks... at least from the plug! -kurt

January 24, 200521 yr They're over a buck here in Central Oregon dealership but only 60 cents in Portland (must be the freight, huh?)... for half a buck why risk it? Later, Peter
January 25, 200521 yr ... for half a buck why risk it? What's to risk? A little drop of oil every few miles down the road if it doesn't work? It's not like you're going to blow a gusher out. Granted, it's only like $30 over 100,000 miles (assuming you change oil every 3750 or so), but it's still $30. Guess I'm just cheap... and lucky! -kurt (You actually think the dealership changes them?)
