dealership experience

Featured Replies

I had a bit of time before picking up my gf yesterday, so I stopped at the local dealership. asked the guy if he had timing belts in stock for an ej22. this is a chevy/subaru dealer btw. guy says "what's an ej22?" so I told him that it is the engine code for the 2.2l 4cyl engine in my legacy, and he asks for the vin number... me: "no thanks, you've more than answered my question" this probably belongs somewhere else, but I'm old gen at heart

I was looking for a water pump o-ring for my '86, and the parts guy (it's a Subaru/Suzuki dealership) asked for my vin. Then he told me it would take 2 weeks to get it in.

This is the same dealership that quoted me $750 to replace the windshield. (and asked for the vin again). I had it done somewhere else for $200 cash.

Dealership parts duders ALWAYS want a VIN number. This ensures that they cant mess up looking up your exact year/make/model and can blame you for copying down the wrong VIN if it does come up with the wrong one.

He still should have been able to look up year/make/model and found what you were looking for. Might get an audible *sigh* or  but they will do it...

Good luck :drunk:
