removing torx on head

Featured Replies

I'm having trouble removing these torx bolts from the head (see link below). Are they supposed to come out? If I put a breaker bar on them, they barely turn, and I'm afraid they're going to break if I apply any more pressure.

they do come out, but I've broken more than have come out cleanly.... usually the torx head is so rusted I have to use a wrench on the outside....

lot's of PB Blaster or Yield, and let it soak..... heat also will help.....

If I already have them on, I usually will leave them on, then (if the normal exhaust stud holes are stripped out, I just tap new threads into the metal spacers....

Did you put lots of PB Blaster for a few hrs? If not try it...

The head is brand new, so I didn't think rust/corrosion would be an issue. I'll wrench at it some more. And yes, I stripped one of the exhaust studs. Oops.
