Gen 1 Brat Mods

Featured Replies

Hi all

any good mods out there for a 1.6 gen 1 suby?

do the weber carbs make a decent power difference?would a 1.8 turbo bolt on my motor?i like it the way it is, but wouldn`t mind a little more umf.

Do a search. It should turn up quite a lot, as this question comes up weekly. Most of the mods for the later engines apply to the EA71 as well.

To answer the turbo question, without SERIOUS fabrication, not by a long shot. You could swap in an EA82T or EA81T engine though.

just find the ultra rare JDM high compression motor from the GF coupes and drop it in.... had one in mine and it would outrun Hondas and Toyotas and in RWD, would do some wicked burnouts I've ever seen a 4 cylinder do!

Basically you can drop a Weber using an EA81 adapter for it on there and I know for about 120 bucks , maybe more, you can get a cam done by Delta cams... Also upgrade the disty to an electronic 2wd EA81 disty. I did a write-up on it here ( http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/article.php?a=38 ). Accell plug wires, Accell Super Coil, and of course overall maitanence stuff like NGK plugs, new fuel filter, etc.
