February 5, 200521 yr I have a 1987 subaru GL-10 and recently my PHV (Pressure hold valve) has begun to leak on me. I discovered this on a weekend so i have not had a chance to call subaru to see if i have to sell my kidneys to get the part. does anyone know if there is a rebuild kit or a way to bypass this system and still have the brakes function properly. If not does anyone have an idea what it will put me out for.
February 5, 200521 yr Phillip, By chance are you referring to the check valve in the large vacuum line to the power brake booster?

February 5, 200521 yr This item as the web site show is commonly called a "hill holder" If you look above the "camshaft" in this shot you will see an 0 ring. This is the part that normally causes the leak. Do you have the facilities to replace it? If not you could probably find one on the market place I guy, Scrapdaddytatum, is tearing down a GL-10 right now that should have one. Hope this helps

February 20, 200521 yr I'll have to do the same job soon (drip drip drip), my question is can this be done without a major brake bleeding job, burrr to cold at this time???
