February 7, 200521 yr ok so i found a leaking intake manifold gasket. i replaced and the problem got a little better. i have replaced both fuel filters, checked all vacume lines the vacume advance unit on the disty put ngk v power plugs in (noticeable differance) but still have a hesitation in my carb could this be from a disty a tooth off. i bought the car for 300 bucks all that was wrong was a bad pickup coil so i replaced the disty and thought at the time that i could have gotten it a tooth off but it ran so didn't think any more about it but now looking back i'm having second thoughts any help would be appreciated i'm trying to make it to moab with everone else
February 7, 200521 yr Did you check the timing? and how bad is the hesitation? And what kinda car? [HTi]JOhnson
February 7, 200521 yr Author yes i did check the timming it's an 88 hatch 1800cc hicrappy carb the hesitation isn't real bad but it's enough to almost stall the engine when i cram the gas on from idle
February 7, 200521 yr hi you need to clean your carb...dont use the spray, take it to a place that will take the carb out of the car ,and clean it. have a nice day. moshe.
February 7, 200521 yr my check mark goes beside the carb's accelerator pump is not squirting enough petrol. try a can of Seafoam (NAPA, Advanced Auto et al) in the gas tank, - it may be a semi clogged passageway. Note this may take 100 miles of driving to work out the problem. 88 hatch w/EA81?? 88 3 door w/EA82?? look on top of the lump near the front lip for engine ID
February 8, 200521 yr Author ea-81 i will give the seafoam a try but just sent my money order off for my new carb weber 38mm dgev with adapter 200 bucks woohoo.
