February 10, 200521 yr I recently ran across a badly munched up 2.5RS (unsure of year) in a local wrecking yard. I am considering swapping that engine and tranny into one of my wagons to have a fun little street toy. The downside is that I've never been terribly impressed with the performance of the 2.5RS. Fun toys, but not exactly known for their pavement melting horsepower. It occurred to me, though, that my wagons might be lighter than an Impreza. Anyone know for sure? Don't really feel like doing a WRX swap, but I thought an EJ25 could be fun. Any thoughts?
February 10, 200521 yr I looked this up on cars.com The '98 2.5RS coupe weighed 2,600-2,795lbs while the sedan weighed 2,690-2770lbs. However, I have no data for later years of the RS. Maybe someone with a FSM for the RS could fill in the gaps?
February 11, 200521 yr Author WEll, I'm FAIRLY certain that the car I was looking at used to be a sedan. Not 100% sure, though. Either way, that makes for a MASSIVE weight loss. COuple hundred pounds, anyway. Hmm...might have to look at that more closely.
