Sti intercooler on RX?

Featured Replies

Lots have used WRX intercoolers, which install the same and are substantially cheaper.

here is the reasoning: When bidding on a WRX take off, the only people bidding against you are others with custom projects and the occasional WRX owner going back to stock.

When bidding on an STi IC, you will be bidding against all the people doing custom top mounts and every friggin wrx owner on the planet.

Bottom line, it can be done. It will cost a LOT more for the IC though

If that IC goes for less than $300, I will be surprised... Whereas, a WRX IC can be had usually for under $100

yeah check out www.nasioc.com for one. They tend to go there for decent prices. I picked mine up for $115 bucks shipped and that included the PSM WRX hoodscoop from an '02. Also got my TD04 turbo from someone on that board as well for $120 shipped.

Ok, just curious, good point about the sti being more sought after.... it would be cool to have that STI logo in the engine compartment of an '87, though ;)

Not to mentione the superior cooling, i'm sure.

The STi one is quite larger than the WRX unit. Go with a WRX unit unless you have a rather large turbo (Larger than 13G/VF34 or larger) and serious engine management.
