February 15, 200521 yr The new Loyale is spiking up to hot and then going back down and running normal. It spikes after about 5 minutes of driving, but then comes back down. Also, it starts hard, and I can smell gas. It seems to idle a bit rough too. Are these all connected? Is it some kind of bad sensor? I don't know these things and some of you guys are suby genuises. Let me know.
February 15, 200521 yr When the temp goes down does it stay down? It might be a thermostat. You could put a lower temp thermastat in. The fuel smell might be a leaking fuel line? or ?
February 15, 200521 yr The cooling prob sounds very much like a sticking thermostat, try replacing it. As for the other probs, i'd check the ignition system (coil, leads, plugs etc) before looking at anything else.
February 15, 200521 yr Sticking thermostat. Also probably needs a tune up but first I'd check for any small fuel leaks then pull the DTCs.
