Engine Swap: What will be needed?

Featured Replies

Have 2 EA71's - one comming and one that is already in the car. 1980 DL Hatch

I'll have to to take all the accessories off the old motor and hook them up to the new one since it is just the long block. I know I'll have to swap out the bell housings on the motors because of the location of my starter, but what other things might I need to complete this swap without any troubles? Gaskets, ect. ?

Intake manifold gaskets,for one thing.

Does the new engine have both pumps on it?

As long as the rear of the engine exposed you might as well do the rear main seal.Infact,do both the front and rear.Clutch kits are on eBay fairly cheap.
