chef_tim
I got corrosion on one of the tabs on my after market fuel pump relay to the point were it broke off. So I go to replace it, same type of relay, same wiring pattern. Now it doesn't kick on. I tried a different relay just to be sure it was good. I'm running power off the battery and using the factory ignition wire for the switch and then just grounding to the frame. The power wires are good (touch them together and fuel pump comes on). The ground is good, multi metered it. The ignition wire has power in the on possition. So any ideas????? It's snowing and I'm getting tired of laying out in it to work on this thing:-\ . chef_tim
I tested the relay and it is good. I think I've narrowed it down to the switched power wire. It is powered until I hook everything up, and then it is dead. It is oposite the ground and with power to it it should close the circuit and power the pump. I've checked the fuses and swapped out the under dash relays just in case. What is it that lets the switched wire know to come on when the car is started??? Could that be bad??? Cougar
Tim, If I remember correctly that relay is also fed from the ignition relay. I would also check the fusible links for a loose connection. You have a bad connection somewhere in the circuit.
chef_tim
I got tired of looking and just wired a switch from my other relay to the relay for the fuel pump. Now I get power at ACC position, but if I just want to listen to the radio I can turn the pump off at the switch. Thanks, Tim
