99 Impreza at slip in 3rd gear

Featured Replies

I have a 99 Impreza wagon 67,000 miles has always run fine till this winter.

I have noticed that when cold it slips going into 3rd gear it seem to stop when it is driven 15 or 20 min.fluid changed every 30,000 miles and just changed the fluid and external filter didn't seem to help.

any ideas other than live with it or change tranny?

I've been having a similar problem with my '02 OBW (56K mi)... it's a bit sluggish only in 3rd gear when cold. I don't know if it's slipping, but I get this very low frequency pulsated humming until the engine gets up to about 2500 rpm. It all seems to go away when the car is warm.

any ideas??

I've found mine prefers to linger a bit extra in third when cold, but shifts more rapidly into 4th once warmed a little bit. Not nearly as badly as described here though.
