March 23, 200521 yr I'm trying to get the codes to blink on a 1993 Impreza I just purchased. All of the references I have found describing the terminal(s) I am looking for don't describe what I am finding. The only connector I find is pictured below. Can anyone give me a hand on this?
March 23, 200521 yr For Impreza models, check the right side of the dash area for the ECU and test connectors.
March 25, 200521 yr Author I've looked under the right side and see nothing! (All wires are connected). I am assuming that I am looking for a connector that is NOT connected to anything - correct???? Is there someone with this same vehicle that can post a very detailed description or post a photo (or tell me if I am indeed looking at the correct connector in the first photo I posted - AND tell me which terminals to connect/ground/??? to get it to flash codes and clear codes). I've worked on a lot of cars through the years but this is getting frustrating (especially when the shop is asking $90 just to connect their tool and read the codes to me). Norman
March 25, 200521 yr For cars of that era I think the trouble code is flashed through a LED light in the ECU, have you found it?
March 25, 200521 yr If I remember my 93 it was a flashing led right under steering turned on car and counted flashes most of the time found it to be egr. cleaned it and replaced 1 other part don't remember what and still check engine light was on had friend at garage check said most likely bad ECU advised to ignor sold 1 year later check engine light still on and off no problems driving
May 12, 200520 yr Hi you guys. Does anybody know how to read the CEL codes for a 93 Impreza with a 1.8L? Thanks
May 14, 200520 yr The 93's should have the green & black diagnostic connectors like this, but probably won't be in the exact same spot http://www.main.experiencetherave.com:8080/subaru/images/ecuhide.jpg
