dual alternators..... wiring?

Featured Replies

how exaclty would one wire up dual alternators? ive got the dual batteries with the isolator and all but i want to add an alt. anyone know??

Are you looking for two seperate systems, or one combined?

A seperate system would be spiffy. Just run your extra accessories off the second alt + battery. Leave the primary alt + battery to run everything it was originally intended to.

Ross; how would you wire them to double your amps but maintain 12 volts Would that be in series or parallel? I'm not that hip to the electrical scene :)

they would have to be in parallel.

if you put them in serial, you'd have a 24V system (might be fun?)

No, 24v systems are anything but fun.

i would run them together i suppose. makes things easier it would seem to me. i know about running things parallel, amps, speakers; back in the young and dumb sterio days. you would just switch the power/ground on the second alt right?? that would stop it form overcharging the system?
