oil pressage gauge install Q

Featured Replies

do I put teflon tape on the threads? cause I heard that it can get sucked up in to the engine and block oil passages I just want to make sure before I go to install it

(btw I miss the spellchecker thing)

I usually use pipe thread sealer, the liquid stuff. Jes remember to let it set up a bit, then screw it in, and let it set a little longer after that. I've seen people use the tape without problems, but personally, I wouldn't.

When appling the teflon tape do not allow it to cover the opening.

Wind it clockwise and only on the threads.

If you apply it properly there is no chance of it getting into the oil passages. I feel it seals better with less torque than pipe dope.

Maybe you had it confused with silicone sealant? When it is used on surfaces such as cam/valve covers or oil pans,

a very thin layer must be used.
