April 19, 200520 yr HI guys ive got a Legacy sedan AWD 90K and it makes this weird noise from the rear drivers side tire. There is also a noise from front of the car that kind of similar but it seems like its coming from the axle. Still did that noise in the front even after replacing both front CV shafts. The rear tire sounds as if the tire is flat, but it is at perfect psi. The sound kind of goes like woompa woompa woompa and makes the noise in neutral or drive at about all speeds more like woompa woompa sound at lower speeds and then its more continuos at higher speeds. Just curious as to why this is as it is kind of annoying and loud. Any help as to what could be wrong would be great.

Have you tried putting on the spare, or switching tires around to see if the noise moves? swi66
April 22, 200520 yr Sounds like wheel bearings. If so, it'll sound worse with time. I had bad bearings on my front left. Make sure you find someone who knows what he's doing to get it fixed. Not a real big deal, but pressing out the old bearings can result in a broken tone wheel if your wrench isn't too bright...
April 22, 200520 yr I had that similar noise and it happen to be the tires. Rotating tires may give you more info.
