lhrocker Posted April 20, 2005 Share Posted April 20, 2005 When I am driving highway speeds and then brake, when I get to about 30, the rear of my 95 Legacy shakes a bit and then goes away when I hit 20. Do you have drum brakes on the car? Since the interior surface of the drum cannot be machined absolutely perfectly there will be slight variations in the friction of the drum against the shoe when braking. If the shoe is not seated firmly enough and the rotating imperfect drum hits it's harmonic frequency (in your case between 20-30 MPH) the shoe will vibrate. That's what happened with mine. Tried to turn them but since rear rotors are manufactured so thin, i had to buy new ones instead. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
