Timing belt ToDo? and part #s?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

well time to gear up for a timing belt on the newly acquired 93ss 14x mi and from the looks of the my belts I'd say it hasnt been done from 60k.

Maybe someone can make some suggestions on things I should do/replace while I'm there. And part numbers would be really helpful.

timing belt

I'll order 2 pulleys just in case.

waterpump (wrx)

2 other belts

should I replace the oil pump and o-ring?

do I check the cam seals or just replace em anyway?

should the adjuster get replaced also?

thermostat

Also if anyone has any reccomendations on where to get a good price on quality parts.

thanks

Chris

No it's not. The turbo legacy oil pump outputs more pressure due to the oil squirters.

oh yeah, what is

Sealing Belt Cover No2

Sealing Belt Cover R

Front Cover Seal

Do I need them? Like I prolly wont be doing the valve covers at this time. Are they easier to do when you got the front taken apart?

IMO,

all you really need is the crank seal, cam seals, oil pump o-ring, timing belt, and if you want, replace the tensioner.

If the idler pullies have issues or if there are other things that don't look right, you should probably replace those as well, but typically you don't know that kind of stuff until you take the timing belt covers off.
