Springs and Struts and Suspension oh MY!

Featured Replies

Well looking to do some suspension upgrades to my impreza

Found some good STI springs on the board (Thanks WJM) just confirming they will fit....

Also looking at struts

Im looking at KYB GR-2 struts...and caveats???

Im having trouble finding these "specifically" for the impreza of my year....would the legacy or WRX ones fit??

THanks for all of your help

Cory

try Ebay.com for the KYB/AGX's for the Impreza

like $80-90 each and excellent struts! ($370-something for the set of 4)

however, not sure the "sti" springs are a nice compliment for them.

Those springs are meant for 04/05 models and 04/05 rear strut tops.

you'd be better off with $200 SPT Eibach springs from Subaru

shout with questions okay?

anyone know if struts are interchangable between models....impreza, legacy, wrx

I don't think they are interchangeable since the legacy weighs up to 500 lbs. more than the impreza. Also there is a ride height difference between models (i.e. the legacy outback rides much higher and softer than the STi) I don't know if this is a spring issue or a strut issue. I could be completely wrong on this but I'm just offering my opinion.

I'm running '04 WRX struts with '03 WRX springs on my '95 Legacy. Why, you ask? Because I got the stuff dirt cheap. It works, but I wouldn't spend a bunch of money to go this route. The suspension is much stiffer and the Leg handles better but I miss the smoother ride. It also sits lower in the rear. I can stick my fist in between the tire and fender up front but only get about two fingers in between in back. Looks funny but it gets me from A to B. Nasioc is a good resource for impreza info and cheap parts.

And it turns out I was wrong :banghead:. Sorry about that, it was just a guess.
