I just finnished a 5 speed mod on my 1982 GL Brat. The only problem I have hit now is that the starter has engaged the fly wheel and will not disengage after it starts. I am using the stock EA-81 starter but I changed the fly wheel to one from an '84 4x4 so it would fit the 9" plate. Do I need to use the starter from the L series donor or do I just need to shim the stock one? Or do I need to get one from an '84 for $35 from the junk yard? Any help would be great as I plan to mess with it tomarrow. Thanks!

Or swap to an EA82 Flywheel.

in my ej swap/5spd/dr, i had to place a washer between the starter and the bellhousing, as the bendix would not retract fully
