Hello all, ,have a question, my '88 DL wagon was rear ended and totalled but still has a good engine, tranny etc. Can I swap parts with an '86 GL wagon?

You certainly can.

As a rule of thumb, you should always keep the OEM intake setup original on the car that is receiving the motor. Retrofitting, or mix & matching the intake will get you in trouble quick.

Other than that, the mechanicals are completely interchangeble. And most of the body, as well...

If the 86 is SPFI it should be very easy, if its not everything but the intake manifold will swap over.
