I just realized that the gas filler tube on my 91 Legacy has a "protective" shroud that trapped years of road sand/dirt/salt and caused the pipe itself to rust through. Check yours out just behind the passenger rear tire.

I also noted on my 90 Loyale and 00 Legacy that the same sand/dirt/salt collection occurs within the front quarter panel and you can access the area by opening the door and then rinse it out.

Any other areas to watch out for?? An ounce of prevention....
