June 5, 200520 yr My 89 Wagon is Fuel injected. How do ya know if it is MPFI or SPFI?? Seems like MPFI is the more common one................
June 5, 200520 yr If your car is nonturbo, it's going to be SPFI. MPFI nonturbo engines were never put into the wagons, except for the 1985 2WD GL-10. All turbo engines were MPFI. The only other car to have an MPFI nonturbo engine was the 1985-91 4cyl XT. SPFI engine is distinguished by a single big fat black hose running in a straight line from the airbox to the throttle body. On top of the throttle body it turns into a rectangular shape.
