June 23, 200520 yr The clock isnt working on my forester. I checked the fuses and they where good. Any sugestions on what coould be the problem and how to fix it.
June 23, 200520 yr Seems a common problem. Apparently the solder joint on a resistor fails. There is actually someone on the site who will fix it for free. Use the search function. His member ID is NorthWet.

Hopefully, someone will remember the good samaritan's ID. from the classifieds, http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=26603 It says EA82 style clocks there, but I believe the basic problem is the same.
June 24, 200520 yr My ears are burning... The EA82 clocks use old-style resistors, which are easy to fix. From what I have heard, the newer clocks have the same type of problem, but they use Surface Mount Devices (SMDs) for their resistors, which are a little more tricky but still doable. I have NOT as yet looked at or worked on a New Gen clock, but am willing to do so. Same price (free) and same request (make donation to USMB) as stated in the sticky in the Marketplace. TTFN! Pat

June 24, 200520 yr at the solder joint and I just soldered it again. North had done all the hard pioneering work so it was easy to spot. My Forester is a 99 by the way. That was several weeks ago and it is still working.
