Thesis
96 subaru Legacy Wagon, L class, 2.2 automatic, 261,000 miles. I used to drive a 200 chevy truck for work, and when i would put it in four wheel drive, sharp turns would make the vehicle jerk. I am expieriencing this on my subaru, only on a much larger level. The jerks happen almost all the time, but then there are days when it doesnt do it at all. I assume its the AWD. I read on some previous threads that theres a way to switch the awd to just a fwd with a fuse. and that that solves the problem usually. but they sounded a little undecided on the whole matter. Is this possible with my car, and if so, is it recomendable?
Legacy777
There should be a fuse holder under the hood near the passenger strut tower that you can temporarily insert a fuse to disable the awd. If the binding goes away, then your clutch packs probably could be replaced. Have you checked the trans fluid? Does it smell burnt or look brown? I'd change the tranny fluid and see if that helps. simbey1982
search for torque bind in the forum, thats most likely what is happening...like josh said could be clutch packs...if the FWD doesnt fix it...Duty C solenoid...probabally....you can try additive and a service...also check tire pressure and alignment...hope it helps Cory
