Glove Box Lamp (2005 Baja)

I opened my glove box today and noticed the bulb wasn’t illuminated, so I installed a new lamp and it still doesn’t light. As I was leaving the parts store, I turned the parking lights on and then headlights. The lamp in the glove box came on each time! I’ve never owned a vehicle where you had to have the headlights on for a glove box or any interior courtesy light to work! This leads me to believe they most likely wired the glove box harness to the wrong fuse position or something at the factory. Or, this is by design to keep the battery from being drained if the box is left opened.

Please check your 05 Baja or Legacy to see if the glove box lamp lights only when the headlamps are on. Please post back with your findings. Thanks

BTW, this is my first Subaru.

Yup.

The key in the ignition with it turned on to the 2nd position and parking lights or headlights on = the glove box light on.

That's the way it is for our 2002 and 1993 Legacy

The light will come on when the key is turned to the on position. All electrical components shut off when the key is removed
