girven
just picked up an 86 3dr cpe w/ the ea-82, carbed. got it home changed the oil, plugs, and put some carb cleaner in the tank. before, it would start, idle rough then smooth out. now, starts up and idles at about 3 grand. thought the throttle was stuck but nope, bottomed out against something on the side of the carb with a diaphragm in it (i think)(passenger side). new to the carb scene on the ea-82, my 89 has fi and works great. any ideas and thoughts are most appreciated. thanks, dennis
yorab
Put 12v onto the choke heater connection (passenger side top) for a minute or two until the choke housing is warm to the touch. This will let the choke open. Push the accelerator to the floor once, let off and start the car. If the idle has dropped, then your fast idle needs adjustment. Fast idle may have been set high to compenstate for poor cold idle due to bad plugs, wires, etc.
