grumbling noise

Featured Replies

There was a kind of grumbling or grinding noise coming from the rear. I thought (hoped) it was the brakes and replaced, but noise is still there. Doesn't seem to get louder as I accelerate like differentials usually do. Is here a driveshaft U-joint? Any ideas?

if its a constant sound than it could be bearings. If its intermittent and causes vibration its probably a CV. Rear CV's rarely go out on stock sube's, so im thinking maybe its a bearing.

I'm thinking it's the bearings too.. it is a constant.. grinding or kinda noise.. but it's speed related... apparently has nothing to do with the brakes. I want to come over and lift it up and see if I can pinpoint where the noise is coming from.. are you busy tomarrow??

If its speed dependant then that would point to bearings as well. They are kinda tough to tear apart, i hear its easier to swap the rear hub with one from a good car.
