Head Gasket Problem

Featured Replies

Does anyone know if Subaru did anything to change the design of the 2004/2005 2.5 L engine (normally aspirated) to solve the problem of the head gaskets that exists with the Phase II engines? Thanks.

Welcome to the board,

They were supposed to have solved that back in 2000, but it appears as though it's not totally solved.

The only thing I know about is the recall involving the "Coolant Conditioner".

I'm not convinced this did anything to stop the problem either...

My girlfriend's mom just bought a brand new outback, and we asked the deal about the head gasket thing.. they said it was fixed.. but i'm still weary about it...
