Buying an used car.

I am looking at a used legacy sedan, 97 with about 100,000 miles ($3500.00). Did this year have the head gasket concerns?

Also found a 98 impreza with a 2.5l at 108,000 miles, ($5500.00) How about this engine any concerns. My wife has a 2001 Outback limited seadn with 70,000 on it. The headgaskets were replaced last year under warranty. Beside that the car has ben great.

My 2004 F-250 V-8 is not so good on gas. We will keep that for around the farm, but I want something for $3000-$4500 to run back and forth to work (65miles).

Any suggenstions?

Thank you

The 2.5 motor 95-99 can have HG issues. I would have the car checked out by a good subaru tech.

If you are looking for a bullet proof then get a 90-96 Legacy with 2.2 motor.
