Weak welds on turbo exhaust!!!

Featured Replies

Ok, WTF is up with the flange welds on the turbo models?, At first i thought i might have just had a bad run in with a few bad welds, I have replaced the cross pipe and the down pipe so many times i have lost count.

Swithced to a EA82 (car is 84 turbo wagon) turbo and EA82 cross and down pipe's, Made a little over a 250 mile round trip a few days ago and guess what..............One of my head flanges is leaking and so is my down pipe flange rite next to the turbo.:banghead:

Has anyone one else had problems with stock welds on your turbo's?

Any ideas or solutions..............I think i might be going custom exhaust sooner than i had thought i might.

How are the hangers and exhaust supports on the cars you've had these prob's, if you don't have a solid connection to the tranni then it puts alot of strain on the up pipe portion of your header. I've been through a couple of headers but it was mostly to do with bashing/dragging the exhaust on stock cars before I went for the lift.
